# External stream

### What is WHIP?

WHIP (WebRTC-HTTP Ingestion Protocol) allows you to inject live video streams from external tools like

* OBS (Open Broadcaster Software)
* vMix
* FFmpeg
* And other WHIP-compatible tools

to your video call as a video source. Once connected, the stream appears under the "Stream" tab.

### How to Enable WHIP?

1. Navigate to the room settings for the specific room in your dashboard.
2. Toggle Enable WHIP to activate live stream injection for that room.
3. Once enabled, the system will generate a:
   * **WHIP Server URL**
   * **WHIP Token**

Use these in the external streaming tool (like OBS) to start broadcasting directly into the video session.

**Please note:** Make sure to keep your WHIP token secure it acts like a password for your stream.

E2EE is not available when using WHIP.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.digitalsamba.com/dashboard/creating-a-room/external-stream.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
